Dr. Yusuf Goran: We are Making Our Best to Raise the Quality of Our Universities

 Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed that they will gradually make the English language as the second language of studying in Kurdistan Region’s universities.

This statement by Dr. Yusuf Goran came during his reception of Dr. Michael W. Mulnix, President of the American University Duhok Kurdistan (AUDK) who visited the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Wednesday August 26, 2015.
 
Dr. Salah Raza, President of Charmu University attended the meeting. In the meeting, Mr. Mulnix presented a summary on his academic life, and then briefed Dr. Yusuf Goran necessary clarifications about AUDK.  Mr. Mulnix also asked that the ministry to cooperate in succeeding the AUDK’s works.
On his part, Dr. Yusuf Goran after welcoming his guests highlighted the diversity of Kurdistan Region’s universities.
 
“We, as the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the sake of raising the scientific level of our universities and filling the job market needs, make our best and pay a lot of importance to raise the quality of our universities. Accordingly, we are now gradually stepping towards making the English language as the second language of study in Kurdistan Region’s universities,” Dr. Yusuf Goran said.
 
The KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research called on President of Charmu University that in opening new departments to take Kurdistan Region’s job market needs into consideration.
 
In another part of the meeting, Dr. Yusuf Goran talked about Charmu University, saying:” Charmu University as a new university is being established upon the scientific and academic standards, and its colleges is addressing the needs of the area and Kurdistan Region’s job market needs.”
 
He also emphasized the need for cooperation and coordination between both the American University Duhok Kurdistan and Charmu University in order to both universities be able to sign a memorandum of understanding to further bilateral ties and serving the scientific sector in the Kurdistan Region.
 
“Our ministry will support the provision of any requirements that to science and developing education and research in the Kurdistan Region,” Mr. Goran concluded.
